On July 26th, in order to commemorate the 136th anniversary of China's power generation, the China Electricity Council held the 2018 ‘China Power Theme Day’ activity in Beijing. The event has been held for seven times so far. The theme of this year's event is “The Belt and Road, Light up the World”.
Along with the continuous promotion of technology and the decrease of generation cost, solar energy industry and other renewable energy industries have been generated into a new level. With the implementation of "The Belt and Road" policy, the solar energy will play a further important role as the carbon-burning power, hydropower and nuclear energy in the worldwide energy industry. As a representative of Chinese new energy enterprises, GCL’s ‘overseas PV power projects’ appears in the publicity film.
Zhang Tao, Director of the Party Construction Work Bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Industry Commission of the State Council, Zhang Fawei, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Bureau, Han Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Commerce, and Deputy Director and Envoy of the Pakistani Embassy in China, Mumtaz Zahr Baloch, Yang Kun, secretary of the party group and executive vice chairman of the China Electricity Council, attended the event.
Chinese electric power industry is one of the main force in the construction of ‘Belt and Road’.
In 1949, the total domestic installed capacity was 1.828 GW. Until the end of 2017, this number has increased to 1780GW, which is about 900 times more than that in 1949, ranking the first in the world. At the same time, China’s annual power generation was 4.3 billion kWh in 1949, and it exceeded 6.5 trillion kWh in 2017, accounting for a quarter of the world’s electricity generation.
'In the construction of the “Belt and Road”, the power industry is brave and the international cooperation is fruitful', said by Kun Yang. In the past five years, the major power companies have actually completed more than 50 projects with an investment of more than 30 million US dollars, and actually completed more than 8 billion US dollars of investment, and 494 power engineering contracting agreement were signed, with a totally contract value of US$91.2 billion.
In addition to scale, another major achievement in the development of Chinese electric power industry is that Chinese electric power is becoming more ‘green’ regardless of production, transmission or consumption.
At the end of 2004, China's wind power installed capacity was only 740,000 kilowatts. In 2011, it reached 62.36 million kilowatts. China has become the world's largest wind power country. By 2017, China's total installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation exceeded 130 million kilowatts, and the newly installed capacity has been the first in the world for several consecutive years, becoming a symbol of the country's manufacturing prowess;.The contribution of new energy power generation to power production has been significantly enhanced. In 2017, the total amount of non-fossil energy generation such as photovoltaics increased by 10.1% over the previous year, accounting for 30.3% of the total power generation, and the proportion increased by 1% over the previous year.
In recent years, GCL Group has accelerated its overseas presence, and countries along the “The Belt and Road” has become key investment areas. As the forerunner of China’s new energy enterprise “to go global”, GCL Group actively responds to the national “The Belt and Road” initiative and relies on the advantages of talents, technology and market to vigorously implement the strategic layout of globalization. In the field of photovoltaic power station development and construction, the “International Training Plan” was launched, and the “The Belt and Road” market along the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and India was launched. The PV Power Station in North America, Japan and Africa is providing green power to the local area; the GCL Clean Energy Project in Indonesia, Turkey and Sri Lanka is actively promoting; in Vietnam, the efficient photovoltaic cell project is officially put into operation; in Ethiopia and Djibouti, the natural gas integrated industrial chain is increasingly perfect, providing a steady stream of green energy for the implementation of the “Benefiting Africa” program.
As the vice chairman of the sixth session of the China Electricity Council, GCL Group attended the event and cooperated with Power Construction Corporation of China, STATE GRID Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Company Limited, China Datang Corporation, Chian Huadian Corporation Ltd., China Three Gorges corporation, China National Nuclear Corporation and other energy corporation. Around ‘The Belt and Road’, we had a deeply communication, and exchange message with each other, includes the experience that we had learned from past.
